I dress him in macho stuff. Combats, hoodies, Bob the Builder wellies. And at home when he dresses up in Rosie's fairy outfits he looks much more 'bloke in a dress' than anything else.
Thing is he's got long hair. But boys with long hair isn't a new thing is it? When my gorgeous late Grandma would mischievously ask "is that a man or a woman?" each time a long haired man would appear on TOTP in the early eighties, even she was just being funny and she was 84 25 years ago!
Of course if it bothered me that much I'd take him to the barbers. It'd only take ten minutes and a bag of chocolate bribery buttons; easy as pie. But I know in my heart it ain't gonna happen. It'd make him look far too grown-up. He'd walk in my two year old scrumptious little babykins and come out a big boy, all independent and pondering GCSE options.
So for now when someone asks her name, I'll amicably reply Charles and let them squirm. Cue evil laugh!!
